Food plays a
very important role in the celebration of the Jewish holidays. For
example, on Rosh Hashanah Jews eat apples dipped in honey to symbolize
our prayers for a good and sweet year. On Hanukkah, we eat latkes,
pancakes made of potatoes fried in oil, to help us remember the Hanukkah
miracle of the oil in the Temple lasting eight days. The children
at The Ronald S. Lauder Foundation supported schools throughout Central
and Eastern love to make the special foods associated with the Jewish
holidays and they offer you their favorite holiday recipes. ENJOY!
